Day 1: Siem Reap- Arrival

Arrive at Siem Reap International Airport and transfer to the hotel (rooms may not be ready until the afternoon).
Visit the Roluos Group. Which served as the capital of Indravarman I (reigned 877-89). Preah Ko erected by Indravarman I in the late 9th century, it was one of the first major temples of the empire at the early Khmer capital of Hariharalaya. Bakong the largest and most interesting of the Roluos group temples, stands 15 meters tall and is 650x850m at the outer wall. Lolei built on an islet in the center of a large reservoir (now rice fields) by Yasovarman I, the founder to the first city at Angkor.

In the afternoon, see the unique interior brick sculptures Prasat Kravan, east-facing brick towers containing unique bas-reliefs of Vishnu and Lakshmi rendered in brick – the only example of brick bas-reliefs in the Angkor area. Srah Srang (known as "The Royal Baths" was once used for ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei, it was originally constructed over the site of an earlier temple, and functioned as a Buddhist monastery under Jayavarman VII. Eastern Mebon, a large temple-mountain-like ruin, rising three levers and crowned by five tower. Visit architecturally and artistically superior temple-mountain Pre Rup.

Day 2: Siem Reap Angkor

In the morning, visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat, it is generally the first one seen. Built by Suryavaman II during the first half of the 12th century. Angkor Wat whose artistic and archaeological significance and visual impact put it in a class with the Pyramids, Machu Pichu and the Taj Mahal.

Visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century). See the South Gate, a big gates with an arch and surmounted by a tower, or gopuram, are the access to the city of Jayavarman VII, visit Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers) great city built in the 12th century by Jayavarmant VII which has more than 200 enormous mysterious faces. Return to Phnom Bakheng Mountain for Sunset.

Day 3: Siem Reap Angkor

An early bird special:
Transfer to the archaeological site to view the golden sunrise at Angkor Wat.
Return to the hotel for breakfast.
Morning; visit Banteay Srei temple (10th century) transfer to ‘citadel of the women,’ - this is modern appellation that probably refers to the delicate beauty of the carvings. It displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art. Then visit Banteay Samre, one of the most complete complexes at Angkor due to restoration using the method of “anastylosis”.
Drive back to Siem Reap.

Visit Preah Khan, built by the King Jayavarman VII, It was the centre of a substantial organization, with almost 100,000 officials and servants. Visit Neak Pean, a fountain (built in the middle of a pool and representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake) was originally designed for medical purposes, as it is one of the many hospitals that Jayavarman VII built. It is based on the ancient Hindu belief of balance. Visit temple of Ta Som, a small, classic Bayon-style monastic complex consisting of a relatively flat enclosure, face tower gopuras and cruciform interior sanctuaries much like a miniature version of Ta Prohm.

Day 4: Siem Reap Angkor

Beng Mealea: Morning, drive to the remote Beng Mealea temple through the typical Khmer countryside (60 km from Siem Reap). Explore the long abandoned temple (11th century), strangled by the jungle.
Picnic lunch (supplement).
A further 1-hour drive brings you to Koh Ker, situated in the northeast of Siem Reap. Discover the long abandoned temples in the forests of northern Cambodia. Also known as Chok Gargyar, it served as the capital of Jayavarman IV (reigned 928-42). His son and successor Harshavarman I moved the capital back to Angkor in 944. It was also a prolific period for gigantic sculpture and several of the most impressive pieces in the National Museum in Phnom Penh come from Koh Ker, including a huge garuda (half-man, half-bird creature). Return to Siem Reap.

Day 5: Siem Reap Angkor

This morning visit the floating village of Chhong Khneas on Tonle Sap Lake, the Great Lake of Cambodia, one of the wonders of Asia.

In the morning, continue the temple tour to Takeo (Constructed under three kings, begun by Jayavarman V as his state-temple and continued under Jayaviravarman and Suryavarman I), Chau Say Tevoda (a small temple of similar design and floor plan to that of Thomanon) and Thommanon (attractive temple in very good condition, built at the same time as Angkor Wat). Continue to Ta Prohm, quiet, sprawling monastic complex is only partially cleared of jungle overgrowth. Intentionally left partially unrestored, massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow from the towers and corridors offering some of the best ‘tree-in-temple’ photo opportunities.

Day 6: Siem Reap Departure

Breakfast at hotel.
Morning visit “Les Artisans d’Angkor - Chantiers Ecoles” of Siem Reap and time at leisure at the local market.

Afternoon at leisure for own activities until departure flight.
Transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for departure flight to the next destination.
